Anxiety

Do you feel concerned all the time but don't know why?

Do you spend a lot of time worrying?

Do you notice your body feeling tense?

Do you feel self-conscious in situations where you have to talk to other people?

These are all normal experiences of anxiety.

Anxiety can affect our functioning in a large variety of ways. It may lead to panic attacks, avoidance, distraction, feeling on edge, fatigue, irritability and sleep issues. Anxiety can be closely tied to depression, and can also be caused by excessive stress or trauma.

In therapy we may work on using skills that are shown to be significantly effective at managing symptoms of anxiety such as mindfuless and grounding exercises, meditation, deep breathing, and other relaxation techniques. Learning about yourself and what drives your anxiety is another way we can learn to decrease worry.
